25 february 2005 - Update of the CDI project
The CDI project has been on hold for some time, but is not really dead. I get
a lot of emails about it, and tries my best to answer them all.
Current status:
The high voltage part works, and have been sucessfully built by several people.
The delay part works to, but as I have not put the schematics on the web,
nobody but me has built it.
I have 60 persons on my mail list, and the CDI page get visited about 100 times
each week.
The delay circuit
The delay is based on the Transmic CDI page at
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/transmic/gb1684.htm
Any person with some knowledge of electronics will find all info needed on his
pages.
Pinout of the PIC is in the source code. There is also a very nice Excel
application to modify the curves.
This is a great page to learn about ignition systems.
The PCB
I have not made a PCB yet.
Here is some pictures of 2 PCBs made by Jorge M. Bravo.
There is one PCB for the high voltage part, and one for the dealy part.
Please note: There is some minor bugs in this PCB. The bugs are in the Power
board.
There will also be a new option in the delay board - a high intensity LED that
can be used as a strobe for ignition testing.
I will update the page when the bugs is fixed.
For more information, please contect Jorge
M. Bravo.
